Head Of School Welcome
Dear APAC Guests,
On behalf of the entire Taejon Christian International School (TCIS) community I would like to welcome you to Korea, to Daejeon (Taejon), and to TCIS. We are so excited at TCIS to host our third APAC Soccer event (Hosted: APAC Girls 2010 & APAC Boys 2012). We are particularly proud to host this tournament at our new campus as the others were hosted at Hannam University and KAIST. Our school has a proud, yet humble history of over fifty years of Christian international education here in the center of South Korea. The country of Korea is a truly “dynamic” country that has overcome great difficulties and challenges over the last fifty years to become one of the most respected nations in the world. Parents of our early TCIS alumni were as foreigners in Korea at the center of helping hand in hand the Koreans rebuild their nation. The city of Daejeon is the center of science and technology for the modern dynamic nation of Korea.
We are honored to be a part of APAC. The goals of APAC fit so well with the goals of TCIS. We look forward to a great learning opportunity and to building relationships and learning more about you and your communities as we share our community and ourselves. Our students and teachers have always come back from APAC events over the last few years so impressed with your schools, communities, and hospitality. We will do our best as your APAC hosts to meet the excellent standards that have been established for hosting by our fellow APAC schools in the past. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your visit more pleasant and rewarding.
As we begin these special days together, I wish each and every one of you every personal and team success and also that each of you experience great fun and great competition within the APAC Pacific Division Boys’ Soccer Tournament. I have no doubt that matches in this event will be played with the highest level of APAP soccer skill, sportsmanship, honor, and courage. Be confident of our best wishes and prayers for a safe and rewarding experience for all.
Sincerely,
Thomas J. Penland, Ed.D.

Principal's Welcome
Dear APAC Guests,
Greetings to each of you! We are thrilled to have this opportunity to host the 2015 APAC Pacific
Division Soccer Tournament and to welcome you to our school and Korea.
There is no doubt that Korea is very passionate about soccer, the most popular team-sport in
the country. Korea’s traditions are filled with grace, courtesy, and hospitality, and Koreans
highly respect discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. At this year’s APAC Pacific Conference
Soccer Tournament, take full advantage of the learning opportunities you will have available to
you, ones we hope you will always cherish.
Three years ago, we hosted this same soccer tournament at our old campus, and we are
pleased to host the event on our new soccer pitch. Over the years, our students and teachers
have returned from APAC events impressed with your schools and your generous hospitality.
We hope that you will continue to get to know our school and enjoy our community, and we look
forward to sharing meaningful experiences, building friendships, and learning more about you
and your community. Many months of hard work on the soccer pitch have prepared you for this
tournament, and enjoy every moment; play hard, play fair, and we wish you great success.
Again, welcome to our school, and we will do everything we can to make this a memorable
experience for you and your team!
God’s Blessings,
Mr. Mark Pleasants
